CarMax — Midtown Richmond Studio & Control Room
When CarMax relocated their studio and control room to their new Midtown Richmond headquarters, they partnered with Digital Video Group for full system design and integration. The facility supports production of Under the Hood, CarMax’s monthly show distributed to more than 260 locations nationwide.
The control room is centered on a Ross Carbonite Ultra production switcher with TouchDrive panel and Ross XPression graphics, backed by Ultrix routing, master sync, and Clear-Com intercom. The studio features Sony HXC-FB80 cameras on Cartoni pedestals with Ross CamBot robotics, CueScript prompting, and set technology from Philips and Neoti. A CamMate jib and a presentation stage with NEC displays support corporate meetings from the same control room.
Post-production includes Mac-based edit suites, Avid Pro Tools, and Avid NEXIS shared storage, with AJA Ki Pro Ultra systems for recording and playback.
