Studio prompting at any height, with recallable elevation and pan presets!

DVG has partnered with Canon, Cuescript and Polcam to create a low cost robotic lift system for for studio and production use. It puts a Canon CR-N500 4K PTZ camera inside a CueScript 17-inch PTZ prompter, hangs a 22-inch CueScript talent monitor below it, and mounts the whole assembly on a Polecam AutoPod Plus robotic elevation column with a motorized Pancake rotation base allowing the whole prompter and camera assembly to rotate for multiple shot locations in the studio.
The camera’s own pan, tilt and zoom are joined by two robotic axes: column height and rotation of the full prompter assembly. Operators can store and recall complete shots, camera height included, from the control room, with no camera operator on the floor.
Key Features & Benefits
- Robotic height and pan. The AutoPod Plus column gives 675 mm of motorized stroke, and the Pancake rotates the entire camera/prompter assembly. Together they add two programmable axes to the PTZ.
- Preset-driven shots. The AutoPod Plus stores up to 10 elevation and Pancake positions, and the CR-N500 stores up to 100 camera presets. Recall speed is adjustable for smooth on-air moves.
- Prompting without PTZ compromise. CueScript’s PTZ mount hangs the camera inverted in the top of the hood, so the PTZ keeps its range of movement behind the glass.
- Talent stays on-lens. A 21.5-inch, 1500 cd/m² talent monitor mounts below the prompter for program return, so presenters don’t have to look off camera.
- Broadcast-quality 4K imaging. 1.0-type 4K CMOS sensor, 15x optical zoom, Dual Pixel CMOS AF, optical image stabilization, built-in ND, plus Canon Log 3 and Wide DR.
- IP and baseband ready. 3G-SDI, HDMI and IP outputs, with NDI|HX2, SRT, RTMP/RTMPS and FreeD support. PoE+ carries power, video, control and tally on one cable.
- On-air tally at the lens. A CueScript CueNumber display switches from green to red when the camera is live. It’s triggered by a cue light sensor or wired tally logic.
- Stable, relocatable footprint. A 26 kg heavyweight wheeled base keeps the column steady and lets the position move between sets. The wheels can be removed for fixed installs.
Applications:
Live streaming and hybrid events
Broadcast news, weather and talk sets
Corporate studios, town halls and executive communications
Higher-education and K-12 studios, distance learning
Unmanned or lightly crewed control-room productions
Virtual and AR sets using camera tracking data (FreeD)
